9:21 AMGood morning, judge, commissioners. Sherri phlegm, county executive for -- fleming, county executive health and human health services. We meet our public health requirements with city of austin and we have our interim health authority and i'll have the staff introduce themselves as well. And they will give you an update.
Beautiful. good morning, Dr. Mark este are. I'm joined by janet, our chief epidemiologist at austin public health. I want to give you a brief situational update regarding our novel coronavirus 2019 and explain what we're seeing in our jurisdiction and how we're planning. As you are likely aware, the outbreak in wuhan was first questions.
9:30 AMAny questions, commissioners? We'll stay on alert. We really appreciate the update. Of course, flu is the bigger concern for us at this point.
9:31 AMAbsolutely.
But we appreciate all the tremendous amount of planning and homework that goes into our emergency services and public health professionals so that we can handle this kind of thing if it should come our way.
Yes, ma'am. thank you, judge.
Thanks so much. next let's go to agenda item number 30, 30 consider and take appropriate action on request to display portraits from the heart gallery exhibit in the 700 lavaca building haul of government during April 2020.
Good morning, health and human services, and with me I have.
Corey goff, partners for children which hosts art gallery.
9:32 AMI'm the heart gallery program manager.
We're here today -- I also wanted to pass these out. We're here today to alert the court to the heart gallery which is managed under the partnership for children and they will explain the information regarding the program, but we're wanting to use the hall of government in april, which is child abuse awareness and prevention month, to display portraits of children that are available for adoption to raise awareness about the issues of children in foster care. And we think using the hall of government will be a you feel with opportunity for these children's portraits to be displayed to the community, raise awareness, and also will give an opportunity for individuals to volunteer and become engaged in the process. So we're really excited about this opportunity. If it goes well, which we anticipate it will, we hope to be able to do it annually as a way to promote the adoption of these children. Corey, what would you like to share?
9:33 AMSo I was just going to include a little more information on the heart gallery itself and some statistics around the kids we serve and thank you to lauren, thank you to you all for this consideration. The heart gallery was developed to shine a light on the harder to place children in fcc foster care who have been anguishing. Children that are older and medically fragile. It was determined their chance of being adopted was really slim when you go into gorgeous photographs.
9:35 AMThank you.
Gorgeous children.
We print that book every year as well so i'm glad you all have that too.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, thank you.
Next let's go to agenda item number 27, which will be wonderful and quick. Consider and take appropriate action on recruitment for the intergovernmental relations officer. This is really just a motion to say the negotiation on salary is complete and julie wheeler has accepted the position as intergovernmental relations director and her first day is tomorrow. [applause]
9:36 AMStacy sprall.
We'll take a -- the only motion there is to take is to declare it so. Who will make the motion? How about the subcommittee.
Move approval.
Move approval.
The subcommittee moves approval. Commissioner Shea making the motion, Commissioner Daugherty seconded it. We are thrilled and it's weird to say your first day is tomorrow because, of course, is it really your first day? [laughter]
And judge, I would invite julie if she wants to make any comments, i'm thrilled she put her name in the hat for consideration and really delighted that you will be assigned to this post as our igr director.
9:37 AMI wanted to say thank you to everyone. I'm really excited about this and more excited I don't have to go through orientation. I look forward to working with each and every one of you going forward and continuing the work of this office and see how we can expand and grow.
All those in favor? that passes unanimously. Thank you so much, y'all.

9:37 AMJulie, you might as well stay down there because we're going to do 13. Enough with all the welcoming and stuff, get to work. 13, consider and take appropriate action on a joint appointment to the central health board of managers.
This one should be brief. we are doing this in conjunction with the city of austin. Abigail aiken resigned from the board and we're trying to fill that position. At the close of the application deadline we received seven applications, which isn't a terrible number, but we would really like to see more and in the past we've received quite a few more applications. I'm requesting the court extend the call another month, end on March 6. We can increase efforts to try to drum up interest and hopefully expand that applicant pool from the court. I've been working with the city.
